NASCAR STREET CLOSURES

Due to the NASCAR Chicago Street Race on July 5 - 6, and related events, there will be rolling street closures and traffic congestion June 19 - July 7.

Before your appointment, check the NASCAR website for the latest street closures. Bus routes may be affected. For current CTA and Metra schedules, visit TransitChicago and Metra. Navigation apps like Waze and Google Maps will reflect real-time closures

Please allow extra travel time. All hospital parking garages will remain open, though alternate routes may be needed.

Center for Advanced Practice

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) are known as Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), who provide comprehensive health care throughout all of Lurie Children's locations by:

  • Managing medical and psychiatric care for children
  • Advocating for children and their families
  • Providing family-centered and culturally respectful care
  • Coordinating care between subspecialties
  • Participating in national organizations with leadership representation
  • Offering advanced educational expertise to nursing staff
  • Designing, implementing and interpreting research

We have nearly 300 APPs represented in all specialty areas at Lurie Children's, providing comprehensive evidenced-based care to patients and families. Several special areas have independent APRN clinics for enhanced access to care.

Our Mission and Vision

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses and Physician Assistants provide comprehensive health care throughout Lurie Children's advocating for children and their families by providing family centered and culturally respectful care. APPs support professional development by functioning as mentors and educators of nurses and health care professionals conducting research, and serving as leaders in the clinical setting and the health care community. As dynamic members of the clinical team, the APPs champion evidenced-based practice and foster collaboration among the team members to enhance the quality and safety of patient care.

APP Transition to Practice Fellowship

The Lurie Children’s Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Transition to Practice Fellowship is a one year post graduate program designed to provide support to new hire APPs. This innovative program is inclusive of nurse practitioners and physician assistants to aid in building confidence in pediatric care.
